About / Additional Info:Common Pleas Civil DivisionAdministrative Appeals, foreclosures, personal injury suits, garnishments are among the types of cases filed in the Civil Division of the Court of Common Pleas. The clerk is responsible for initiating and maintaining case files, the collection and distribution of filing fees and costs, the seating of both petit and grand juries and the issuance and recording of notary commissions.Faxed pleadings will not be accepted. All filings must be mailed or presented in person.Common Pleas Criminal DivisionThe Criminal Division handles all indictments (accusations) returned by the grand jury. After a case file has been initiated, this office creates and issues either an arrest warrant or a summons instructing the defendant to appear at a specific time and place. Bail bonds are processed, executed, and witnessed by the clerks of this division.The Criminal Division is responsible for the arraignment docket, the assignment of judges to cases, reporting convictions to B.C.I. & I and transmitting driver license suspensions to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. This office also collects and distributes all costs, fines, and restitution.Domestic RelationsDomestic Relations Court is a division of the Court of Common Pleas. This division hears all cases involving divorce, dissolution, legal separation, annulment, and all non-criminal domestic violence. Matters involving child custody, visitation, child and spousal support are also under the jurisdiction of this court.
